… to the man cycling to church crookham from brighton this evening on an old mountain bike. At least he had proper cycling shoes and toe clips.. It was snowing a little as we went scootering around the park in the dark - but still warmish at 4 degrees.

the wormery has suddenly been attached by 1000’s of tiny little mites, each about a pinhead big, white with orange legs/feelers and mouth peices - ugg! This morning I lifted the lid to find them everywhere - on the top of the food, on the walls everywhere. I thought they might be worm eggs but some reading shows they are laid in the soil and these things are moving. Under the microscope they look like mites, but what sort? will they harm the worms or help the decomposing?

It started with a Sony PS3 ( as leverage to get a 14 year old to revise) living in our new garage room connected to an old 12 inch tv. That was soo bad that I bought a 32 inch LCD tv and it looks fab in 1080 HD mode. But what to do with the tv when he/we are not shooting things.. It needs a tv input but there is no arial feed at this end of the house.

So I could reorganise the tv feeds or…. I could buy a 70 pound maplin.co.uk freeview satellite system, it comes with plastic dish, all cables, freeview box, clear instructions ( sorry I lied about that) . It took 20 minutes to get all the hardware connected, with the dish mounted out of site on the back of the utility roof.

The difficult thing was to point it at the right satellite, all around the astra satellite where Sky comes from are porn satellites, one for Turkey, 3 for russia, 2 for germany. That took a while but finally we have bbc1 etc from the astra satellite, and we saw some very odd images whilst trying to get it aligned.. so now we have quite a few tv channels, loads of radio stations and the freeview box has tetris built in..

Odd to think that the picture is coming from space…

Its 10 degrees and raining, the park is all mud, the dogs are wet and muddy - especially Cleo as the mud is deeper than her legs are long! I’ve been running them around the concrete path around the Park at night as its a bit cooler and they keep going..

At 14 boys are too young to realise that not working for GCSE modules is a life changing decision, a little bit of work and they would have more choices later in life.. so sad, wish I’d realised it !

We went to some relatives there for the New Year. The locals drive dangerously fast in the town 30 mph areas, down near the rugby club I watched 14 cars in a row set off a 30 mph warning sign, not one braked when the sign flashed - waste of time…
